Legislative Auditor Should Look at DBEDT

The state’s promotion of the spaceport for Ka’u, so well described in Environment Hawai’i, raises a larger question: What have been the economic benefits of other projects of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, and at what cost have those benefits been purchased? This information can be determined through an audit of DBEDT by the state’s legislative auditor.

A little money spent on an audit now could provide information that will save state tax-payers millions of dollars on future fiascoes such as the spaceport.

To support this, readers need to ask their state senators and representatives to call for a complete financial and managerial audit of DBEDT. For more information, or for a copy of our petition for an audit, readers may call me directly at 929-9244 (island of Hawai’i).
